Danish culture and society

This course provides an in-depth exploration of Danish culture and society, focusing on the question of what defines “Danishness” and who the Danes are as a people. Through the study of Denmark’s history, literature, art, and cultural traditions, students will gain insights into the development of Danish identity and values. Topics include key historical events, influential works in Danish literature and art, and the social values that shape everyday life in Denmark today. By examining these aspects, the course seeks to understand the unique characteristics of Danish culture and what it means to be Danish in a global context.
