Literature and Philosophy

This course, Literature and Philosophy, delves into the intersections between two rich fields: the exploration of great literary and philosophical works. It emphasizes the ways in which literature and philosophy blend together, revealing how philosophical thought is embedded in literature and how literary qualities emerge within philosophical texts.

Throughout the course, students will read foundational texts spanning different historical periods and cultural backgrounds, reflecting on themes such as ethics, existence, identity, freedom, and the human condition. By examining these works, students will develop critical skills in interpretation, argumentation, and self-reflection.

Students will engage in discussions, written assignments, and projects that challenge them to think critically about the texts and to draw connections between literature and philosophy. This course aims to foster a deeper understanding of how literature and philosophy mutually enrich each other, opening up new ways to question and comprehend our world and our place within it.
